I found a collection of buttons on the bottom of a blog post today. You’ve probably all seen something similar. It’s the same issue as with RSS (no longer just a link, but many links to RSS readers). In this case you click one of the buttons and effectively recommend the post to the social site. Hey why not click them all?
Add to Social Site: These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages.

Question, is this list going to get longer or shorter?

That list is pretty crazy, huh? When I added the blog plugin I was shocked at all the social sites out there. Most of them I haven’t every heard of. This points to the value of attention. There are pockets of communities that exist apart from others so how do those people find the stuff they like that exists in other communities?
I’ll trim that list of social sites down once measure which ones best fit my blog. But I can’t help but think that will cut of some group of people. These social sites try to tackle the problem of finding the good stuff amongst a flood of information but now finding the good social site could be problem amongst a flood of social sites.
I have more interests than time, how about you?
