Two girls provide a surprise for their boyfriends on the 17th floor of a towerblock in Paris.
The girls had gone to a relative’s flat and told the two boys to wait in the living room while they prepared a “surprise”. One of them called from the bedroom: “OK, come in.” Ben opened the door. Marion and Virginie were standing on the window sill, their hands tied together. They smiled and jumped.

Yesterday we saw an octagenarian bundled out of the Labout Party conference for calling out the word nonsense while the Foreign Secretary was mouthing the word “democracy” in the context of Iraq. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the man was then detained by police under the “Prevention of Terrorism Act”. Blair and a half-dozen other senior party members trotted out their apologies today through every available media portal. “This isn’t the way we do things” said John Reid, the Defence Secretary. What is it then? The party succeeded in masking the real issue, that of the use of police power.
This was not the only eighty year old man detained in conection with the conference. Another, committing the heinous crime of wearing an anti-Tony Blair T-shirt was also taken away and searched, again under the prevention of terorism act. All this is, of course, precisely what we were told would not happen while additional police powers were originally “debated”. Despite assurances from Sussex Police it seems pretty apparent to anyone at all acquainted with the facts, that the police are acting as a private sucurity firm for the governing party. One can only imagine what a labour leader in opposition would have made of a similar occurence under Margaret Thatcher’s reign.

a comment recived from anon to my last post:
Didja apologize to her for downloading all that pirated music? Give her some cash? Tell her how great Hidden Vagenda is, that you only just downloaded it for free last night? To top it off, you brazenly pose for a photo with her. It all looks so…. sincere. No wonder you’re smiling.
so i saw kimya last night after listening to the the moldy peaches with the kids most of the day, and ‘hidden vagenda”(her new album) in the early evening. at the gig she mentioned the breakfast set she was doing 9am sundey morning and i realised the kids would crucify me if they knew and i didn’t take them.
so up we got and headed off the the elephant & castle, to some dive behind the walworth road. there were trails of people moving around who looked like they weren’t used to that time of the morning at all, let alone on a sunday. kimya sat on the edge of the stage and sang whatever song came to mind, or was requested. zoe and zac were transfixed by her bunny hat and the tattoos of bunnies (amongst others) running up her arms.
kimya hugged the kids gave them t-shirts. she asked me whether there were any albums i didn’t have. i said i had a knock-off “hidden vagenda” so she gave me a copy and signed it. so there.

Someone tried to commit suicide today by jumping of the portico of the british museum. nice location, not enough height. i’ve said it before, i’ll say it again, you need ten stories to make sure.

Hunter S Thompson’s suicide note turns up, entitled “Football Season is over”:
No More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun. No More Swimming. 67. That is 17 years past 50. 17 more than I needed or wanted. Boring. I am always bitchy. No Fun - for anybody. 67. You are getting Greedy. Act your old age. Relax - This won’t hurt.
and then he drew a “happy heart” at the bottom.

I mentioned before about Banksy’s little trip to the middle east. Well it went mainstream on tv today. ITN’s middle east correspondent took a trip out to see them. he interviewed palestinians about them who were generally positive. they even managed to get a statement out of banksy. In reply to the question “what are they for”, he said:
All grafitti is about comforting the disturbed and disturbing the comfortable.
There are some nice banksys on Flickr for anyone interested. The pulp fiction take, above, is in cambden and is huuge.

update: or maybe not cambden. hoxton i’m told. fuck, it’s somewhere i walked past recently.
